Nest Paper Bin
The Nest Paper Bin has been created by Hallgeir Holmsvedt for the brand Form & Refine. The designer chose to use cork to make the most of its natural look and its benefits which include strength, durability and sustainability as cork is very eco-friendly. It is also made of wood veneer and has brass detailing.
The Nest Paper Bin is made of two layers of very fine cork fabric that are sewn together by hand. This gives it a soft, crumbled look that is a departure from the typical plastic or metallic bins. The body is held in place with splines that go all around it and the upper rim as well. A handle made of steam-bent wood veneer goes over the top of it for easy lifting and carrying. It pays homage to Shaker baskets and buckets. The handle is joined to the bin with brass-toned hardware that adds subtle decorative detail.
The Nest Paper Bin has a height of 32cm and a diameter of 26cm. It is made for indoor use to hold dry items such as waste paper. It should not be used to hold wet waste such as food items which will damage the cork.
