The About a Chair 22 Armchair Frame Oak was created by Hee Welling for the Danish design label HAY.
HAY was launched in 2002 and went on to become a leading part of the Danish Modern movement and a successful producer of sophisticated and innovative home and workplace furniture. Danish-born Hee Welling has had a fascination with cabinet-making since his childhood - a fascination he makes good use of in his furniture design. As well as receiving many prestigious prizes, he has also twice been named Danish Designer of the Year.
With his About a Chair 22 Armchair Frame Oak, Hee Welling is giving a modern update to Danish furniture design from the 1950s, creating a chair that is pure in outline while being highly functional. The chair has a simple four-legged base of pale oak with a smoothly curved seat crafted from one piece of polypropylene. The About a Chair 22 Armchair Frame Oak measures 52 x 59 cm and has a comfortable seat height of 79cm. The chair seat is available in a choice of different colours, and the design complements other pieces by Hee Welling.
