Strand Suspension Lamp open
The Strand Suspension Lamp Open was designed by Benjamin Hubert for Muuto.
With a philosophy of blending traditional Scandinavian design with innovative materials and techniques, the Danish design label Muuto was founded in Copenhagen in 2006. Benjamin Hubert is a young British designer with a background in industrial design. He has won many prestigious prizes, including the Red Dot Design and IF Design awards.
The Strand Suspension Lamp Open is part of a family of three closed and two open suspension lamps. It combines contemporary playfulness with an industrial edge that showcases Benjamin Hubert's design background. Openings at the top and bottom allow for the diffusion of both direct and diffused lighting while its simple but elegant colouring makes it a striking choice for both public and domestic settings. The lamp is constructed from a steel frame finished with a shade made from tiny strands of a complex structure that are sprayed into a cocoon-like material. This creates an almost cloud-like appearance. The Strand Suspension Lamp Open is available in three sizes, 37.4 x 28 cm, 50.2 x 40 cm and 40.3 x 60 cm.
