American design duo Charles and Ray Eames are hailed among the world's most renowned and innovative designers. As pioneers in contemporary furniture design, they were responsible for a large number of iconic pieces, including the Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman. The husband and wife team was involved in a multitude of architectural projects such as the Eames House and the Entenza House in California. Starting in 1957, Eames designs have been manufactured by the Swiss furniture company Vitra, which is headquartered in Birsfelden.
The Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman is a modern take on a classic club chair. Designed to resemble a well-worn baseball mitt, the chair combines superior quality and comfort with outstanding aesthetics. Both the chair and the ottoman are assembled by hand, with the shell consisting of 7-ply wood veneer. The sturdy base is made from aluminium, while the seat and back are upholstered in buttery soft leather. The lounge chair and ottoman feature felt gliders to protect hardwood floors and make a welcome addition to any living room or study.
