404 F Armchair
This curvaceous Thonet 404 F Armchair was created by Stefan Diez for leading design company Thonet.
Stefan won the IF Design Award in 2010 for his Gold 404 H barstool and with the design for this Thonet 404 F Armchair, he seems to wish to pay homage to the founder of the company. Micheal Thonet developed the first process for solid wood bending in furniture and the design of this armchair takes advantage of this process with almost every line of its construction. The curved seat blends with the rounded backrest and sits atop four interwoven sprouting legs. The overall effect is one of symmetry and natural appeal. The chair is 78cm high, 60cm wide and 54cm deep. The seat height will vary depending on the material chosen. The chair itself is a lightweight and portable unit that weighs in at 4.7kg. Its unique aesthetic makes it suited to a variety of roles about the home, including as part of kitchen and home office decor as well as a part of a garden furniture set.
