Welle 2 Sofa Element
The strikingly contemporary Welle 2 Sofa Element is the creation of the late Verner Panton for the influential Danish design company Verpan.
Taking its name from his, Verpan now enjoys responsibility for the production of many of Verner Panton's beautiful designs. Widely lauded as one of the most significant interior and furniture designers of the 20th century, Verner Panton's alma mater was Copenhagen's Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. After setting up his own design studio in 1955, he devoted himself through his designs to encouraging others to make the fullest use possible of their imaginations. Examples of his work are now on display in a number of eminent locations, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The Welle 2 Sofa Element fits well with Verner Panton's efforts to persuade people to think in new and different ways. A modular item of furniture, it can be used singly, in pairs or as a triplet. Its versatility is further demonstrated by its ability to mix with other items from the same range. Well-constructed from polyurethane foam and wood, it measures 108 x 80 x 50 cm. Its pleasing curves would be an asset to any room.
