Ball Chair
The Ball Chair has been created by Eero Aarnio for the brand Eero Aarnio Originals. When it was displayed at the 1966 Cologne Furniture Fair, it gave Aarnio his international breakthrough. It also became a beloved classic not only in his homeland of Finland but around the world.
The Ball Chair is essentially an orb that has been hollowed out on one side to accommodate a seat and backrest. This has been included in the form of a cushion filled with polyurethane foam and upholstered with fabric that is a cotton and polyamide blend. The cushion is folded into two to serve as a seat and backrest. The inside of it is also padded and upholstered to match the seat. The chair is made of fibreglass. The exterior is finished with a gel coat which gives it a glossy finish. The shell sits on a disc-shaped base that allows the chair to swivel all the way around.
The Ball Chair has a width of 110cm, a height of 120cm and a depth of 97cm. It has a seat height of 37cm. It can be used indoors as well as outdoors. It makes a fun addition to a living room, bedroom and exterior spaces.
