Torso Chair
The Torso Chair has been created by Lisa Hilland for the brand Design House Stockholm. Hilland set out with Torso to create a chair which bridges the separate worlds of furniture design and fashion. By skilfully using leather, ash wood and metal, she has succeeded in style, creating something truly exceptional.
The Torso Chair makes an immediate impression with its back made from intersecting bands of leather which combine to form a bowtie shape. The leather straps are framed and supported by slender steel tubing, while the curved seat is made from sustainably harvested ash wood. The outcome is a superbly comfortable form with aesthetic elements that set it apart from the crowd.
The Torso Chair has a height of 83cm, is 52cm wide and 47cm deep. Multiple chairs can be stacked together if desired, making it easy to store a Torso Chair collection when the furniture is not needed. Each chair should also be easy to carry with a weight of 4.7kg. The surfaces can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, while the leather straps will last for many years with a periodic application of wax.
