529 Rio Coffee Table
The Cassina 529 Rio Coffee Table has been created by Charlotte Perriand for the brand Cassina. Named after Brazil's famous beach city, the 529 Rio Table has a unique design which is based around six different segments. Avoiding standard round forms, Perriand has used offset angles and unusual shapes to create something that fascinates and impresses, while remaining totally practical for living room use.
The Cassina 529 Rio Coffee Table resembles a gear wheel in form, with some segments protruding from the circumference and others raised slightly above the surface. Each wedge-shaped element of the table has been made from a mixture of rattan and oak. The rattan has been woven into a perforated surface which allows light to flow through, while oak has been used for the frame and base. The six wedges come together in a central hole which anchors the piece, creating a focal point that ties together different shapes beautifully.
The Cassina 529 Rio Coffee Table measures 140cm in diameter and has a height of 33cm. It can be used as a central table for living rooms and will combine well with sofas and armchairs. And wherever it is placed, it will always draw attention with its imaginative design.
