637 Utrecht Leather Chair
The Cassina 637 Utrecht Leather Chair has been created by Gerrit Rietveld for the brand Cassina. The Utrecht Chair first appeared in 1935 as a furnishing for the Rietveld-Schroder House - a modernist masterpiece in the Dutch city of the same name. Its mixture of geometric shapes and sense of balance make this one of the most iconic creations of the De Stijl movement, and one that still makes a bold impression.
The Cassina 637 Utrecht Leather Chair has a highly original form, featuring slightly angled seat and back sections, as well as a right-angled armrest. The two sections create an interplay of lines which captures the eye, while in this version the chair is covered in a plush dark brown or black Scozia leather exterior. There are only two legs in the design, which can be found at the front of the chair. The seat dips down at the back to form a third leg, anchoring the design.
The Cassina 637 Utrecht Leather Chair measures 64cm wide and 85cm deep, while it has a set height of 37cm and a total height of 70cm. The armrests are 50cm high and round off a design that is both exceptionally comfortable and aesthetically stunning.
