The Madre LED Table Lamp was designed by Andrea Anastasio for the brand Foscarini.
The imagination on display with the Madre LED Table Lamp is nothing new for Anastasio, who is one of Foscarini's premier lamp designers. Informed by influences as varied as Islamic art, Japanese culture, and contemporary Scandinavian minimalism, his work challenges convention and maintains a sense of playfulness in every instance. Emphasising natural curves and warmth, his works are designed to make spaces more liveable and enjoyable.
The Madre LED Table Lamp certainly achieves this aim. Resembling a tea light or lantern in form, it offers a richly imaginative take on traditional table lamp formats. This distinctive luminaire measures 36cm tall and 35cm at its widest point, which tapers to a 13cm wide base. A hole has been cut into the polycarbonate and borosilicate glass casing of the Madre LED Table Lamp, thereby allowing light to escape. The choice of materials and the gentle curves of the diffuser also promote a soft illumination, and one which avoids any impression of glare. Supplied with a dimmer and plug, the Madre LED Table Lamp takes a 17.5W LED bulb, which cannot be changed.
