Luciole Spike
The Luciole Spike was designed by Marco Merendi and Diego Vencato for the brand Emu.
Merendi and Vencato regularly collaborate on all kinds of design projects, from high-end bathrooms to boutique tiles. Italian label emu enlisted the duo to craft the Luciole Spike, and the product that they delivered is just as magical and delicate as the fireflies after which it is named. Both resilient and seemingly weightless, the Luciole Spike will grace any outdoor space.
Each Luciole Spike takes the form of a slender lamp which is placed directly into soil. The spine of the lamp measures either 53cm, 83cm, or 133cm long, depending on which model users decide to purchase. In all cases, the spine is just 2cm wide, allowing the diffuser to float like a firefly in the evening air. Made from attractive lacquered steel, each spike can be turned on and off via a switch on the casing. When turned on, they cast a bright but not dazzling light - enough to illuminate surroundings as the sun sets. This highly practical and attractive outside luminaire will help you to navigate darkened paths and make gardens suitable for socialising well into the night.
