Birdy Swing Floor Lamp
The Birdy Swing Floor Lamp has been created by Birger Dahl for the brand Northern. Danish designer Dahl was one of the pioneers of modern Nordic lighting. During the mid-20th century, he shook things up with innovative lighting and accessories - including some designs that were too progressive for production at the time. For instance, the 1952 Birdy Swing Floor Lamp was not produced until Northern put the original sketch in production in 2021.
Closely related to other designs in the Birdy range, this floor lamp features strong geometrics and gentle curves inspired by birdlife in the natural world. It incorporates a long, narrow stem made from steel that curves upwards to form a short branch that holds a cone-shaped shade made of aluminium. An on/off switch has been placed on the frame, while the stem fixes into a circular steel base that anchors the design.
The Birdy Swing Floor Lamp has a width of 50cm, a height of 133cm and it comes with a 200cm long cable. The lamp weighs 5.3kg, and is available in black with brass joints, black with steel joints or black with black joints. It requires bulbs that fit the E27 socket.
