The Marre Plastic Rug 70x375cm was designed by Scandinavian textile artist Lina Rickardsson for the manufacturer pappelina.
Lightweight, hard-wearing and easy to store and clean, this runner rug combines dependability and versatility with its designer good looks. An extra-strong finish at the ends helps to prevent fraying, while the choice of synthetic fabrics adds to its durability. Better still, it's fast drying and works equally well indoors and outside. The Marre Plastic Rug 70x375cm looks instantly at home in the hallway or along a corridor but it's also long enough to run the width of a swimming pool, patio or to add a touch of summer style beneath a long outdoor lunch table.
Rickardsson's eye for colour and pattern has served her well since her days as a student painter and textilist in Gothenburg. Today, having balanced a design career with family life, it's no wonder that she loves creating stylish and practical textiles that work well in the modern home. Her choices are also influenced by the craft traditions of her home country. pappelina still manufactures in the original weaving mill in the central Swedish region of Darlana using Jacquard-style looms dating back to the 1950s and 60s.
