Abbracciaio Candle Holder
The Abbracciaio Candle Holder was designed by Philippe Starck for the celebrated Milan-based manufacturer Kartell. A celebrity among contemporary designers, French-born Philippe Starck has brought his vision of accessible style and quality to a whole plethora of projects great and small; he has worked on smartphones, motorcycles and kitchen fittings, and he has even helped to remodel the Port Adriano Harbour in Mallorca. Over 600 of his designs are displayed in the collections of various prestigious museums and galleries, and his clientele has included French presidents and world-famous technology entrepreneurs.
Inspired by the fluid lines of Art Deco, the Abbracciaio Candle Holder from Kartell rests on two pairs of tapering legs that resemble stylised human figures. These figures are connected at the top by linked arms, while their "heads" are cups, each accepting a candle. Made from cast aluminium in a choice of high-gloss metallic finishes, this typically distinctive Philippe Starck creation stands 20cm high and 25cm wide. Organic in style and at the same time futuristic, the Abbracciaio Candle Holder makes a wonderful centrepiece for chic, contemporary table settings and a great talking point for dinner parties.
