Luxembourg Lounge Armchair
The Luxembourg Lounge Armchair has been created by Frédéric Sofia for the brand Fermob. Originally crafted as a special set of furniture for Paris' Jardin du Luxembourg in the 1920s, the chair has become an icon of French design. Instantly recognisable and full of character, it will look as good in home gardens as it does in grand public settings.
The Luxembourg Lounge Armchair has been fashioned from solid aluminium, providing excellent resilience and weather protection, while keeping the weight down to 5kg. That's light enough to enable easy movement. The chair measures 74cm tall, 71cm wide and 73cm deep, meaning that there's ample space to relax. The seat height of 42cm is well set for comfortable relaxation.
When it comes to form, the Luxembourg Lounge Armchair is conventional, with four legs, flattened arm rests and a tubular frame which contrasts neatly with flat sheets for the back and seat. But the subtle curves of Sofia's design have a seductive appeal that goes beyond the familiar. At the same time, these chairs are extremely practical. Their non-slip feet makes them safer to use, while a stackable design allows them to be stashed away conveniently when not in use.
